Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of Livingston County Criminal History. Visiting a page, following a link, or submitting a query through an outside search tool indicates agreement with them. If you do not accept these conditions, do not use the website. These terms apply to this privately operated resource, not to the separate Livingston County, Michigan court, police, or state websites linked from it.

1. What This Website Is

Livingston County Criminal History is an independent reference website. It is not owned, managed, approved, or sponsored by Livingston County, the State of Michigan, any court, the sheriff, a police department, Michigan State Police, or another public agency. Its role is to describe official record sources and access procedures.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use must remain lawful and must not interfere with the website or another person. You agree not to:

  • Violate federal, Michigan, or local law through the site
  • Threaten, stalk, harass, or harm a person with information found here
  • Use site content for a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Attempt unauthorized access to servers, accounts, or data
  • Deploy bots, scraping systems, or other automated collection tools
  • Disrupt service or prevent another visitor from using a page

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this website or a linked service may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Registry information requires special care. MCL 28.730 governs public use of Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data and does not authorize injury, harassment, threats, trespass, or vigilantism. The registry exists for public safety awareness, not personal retaliation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Livingston County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not create credit reports, background reports, or consumer reports. Information from this site or a linked search tool may not be used for:

  • Employment screening or workplace eligibility decisions
  • Tenant screening or housing eligibility decisions
  • Credit, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Licensing, benefit, or program eligibility when the FCRA applies
  • Any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A person who needs an authorized official check must use Michigan State Police CJIC, the required fingerprint channel, or a properly compliant provider for that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Material on the website is general information, not legal advice or an attorney-client communication. It cannot determine how a Livingston County charge, warrant, sentence, set-aside rule, or disclosure law applies to a particular person. Consult a licensed Michigan attorney for advice about a specific matter.

6. No Warranties

The website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no promise that:

  • Every procedure, address, fee, or statement is complete and current
  • Access will be continuous or free from delay
  • Pages, code, or systems contain no error or security weakness
  • An outside search provider will return a complete or correct match

Livingston County and Michigan records change when courts file orders, agencies correct data, and statutes alter public access. Always confirm a record and current procedure with the office that maintains the original.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links point to court portals, Livingston County offices, Michigan agencies, registry services, and outside search providers. A destination controls its own content, availability, fees, security, data practices, and terms. We do not operate those destinations and are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the website's original text, layout, graphics, logo, and code belong to Livingston County Criminal History or its licensors. Content may not be copied, republished, modified, distributed, or used to create a derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest degree Michigan law permits, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or other damages arising from use of the site, inability to use it, reliance on content, or use of a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, losses, costs, and reasonable legal fees that arise from your use of the website, misuse of information, infringement of another person's rights, or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute related to the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms when practices, law, or website functions change. A revision takes effect when the updated version is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend, restrict, or end access to all or part of the website at any time, including when use threatens security, violates these terms, or disrupts service.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected term will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
